Technical Requirements for Trading Education

Setting up your learning environment doesn't need expensive hardware or complicated installations.

We built our platform with accessibility in mind. Most students use whatever computer they already own. What matters isn't having the latest tech—it's having a stable connection and enough screen space to follow along comfortably during sessions.

What You'll Actually Need

People often ask if they need a trading-specific setup. Short answer: not really. Your current laptop or desktop probably works fine. We've had students follow our autumn 2025 program on five-year-old machines without problems.

Computer Basics

  • Any computer from the past five years should handle everything smoothly
  • Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.14 or newer, or recent Linux distributions
  • At least 4GB RAM (8GB makes multitasking easier during live sessions)
  • Screen resolution of 1366x768 minimum—bigger helps when viewing charts alongside course materials
  • Around 10GB free storage for course resources and practice files

Running something older? Reach out before enrolling. We can usually suggest workarounds, but it's better to check compatibility beforehand.

Internet Connection

  • Minimum 10 Mbps download speed for video streaming—25 Mbps works better for HD quality
  • Stable connection matters more than raw speed during interactive lessons
  • Wired Ethernet connection preferred for live trading demonstrations
  • Mobile data can work in a pinch, but consistency suffers

Our platform automatically adjusts video quality based on your connection. Students in areas with variable internet still participate successfully—content remains accessible even at lower resolutions.

Audio & Video Setup

  • Built-in speakers work, but headphones reduce distractions during focused sessions
  • Microphone needed only if you plan to ask questions during live Q&A periods
  • Webcam optional—most students keep video off during regular lessons
  • Screen sharing capability helpful for getting feedback on your chart analysis

Callum Driscoll, Platform Support

Setting up shouldn't feel like solving a puzzle. Most issues we see come from outdated browsers or cached data—things we can fix in minutes over a quick call.

Before our September 2025 intake, we'll schedule optional tech check sessions. Bring your questions. We'd rather spend fifteen minutes getting you sorted than have you struggle during actual lessons.

And honestly? The platform works on pretty modest hardware. If you're reading this on your computer right now, you're probably already equipped to start learning.

Browser & Software Requirements

Recommended Browsers

Chrome (version 100+), Firefox (95+), Safari (15+), or Edge (100+). Keep them updated for best performance and security.

Practice Platform Access

We use web-based simulation tools—no downloads required. Everything runs in your browser during practice sessions.

Mobile Access

Tablets work for reviewing materials, but hands-on practice sessions really need a proper keyboard and mouse setup.

Additional Software

PDF reader for course materials. Spreadsheet software helps for tracking practice trades, but we provide web-based alternatives.

Our learning management system includes built-in messaging, so you won't need separate communication apps. Course recordings stay available for review—helpful when you're catching up or want to revisit specific concepts.

Pop-up blockers sometimes interfere with platform features. We'll walk you through adjusting those settings during onboarding if needed.

I was worried my older MacBook wouldn't keep up. Turns out it handled everything perfectly fine. The platform's pretty lightweight—never had lag during live sessions, even when sharing my screen for feedback.

The setup guide they sent before starting made everything straightforward. I had one hiccup with my browser settings, but support sorted it out within minutes. Nice not needing to install a bunch of different programs.
