What You'll Actually Need
People often ask if they need a trading-specific setup. Short answer: not really. Your current laptop or desktop probably works fine. We've had students follow our autumn 2025 program on five-year-old machines without problems.
Computer Basics
- Any computer from the past five years should handle everything smoothly
- Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.14 or newer, or recent Linux distributions
- At least 4GB RAM (8GB makes multitasking easier during live sessions)
- Screen resolution of 1366x768 minimum—bigger helps when viewing charts alongside course materials
- Around 10GB free storage for course resources and practice files
Running something older? Reach out before enrolling. We can usually suggest workarounds, but it's better to check compatibility beforehand.
Internet Connection
- Minimum 10 Mbps download speed for video streaming—25 Mbps works better for HD quality
- Stable connection matters more than raw speed during interactive lessons
- Wired Ethernet connection preferred for live trading demonstrations
- Mobile data can work in a pinch, but consistency suffers
Our platform automatically adjusts video quality based on your connection. Students in areas with variable internet still participate successfully—content remains accessible even at lower resolutions.
Audio & Video Setup
- Built-in speakers work, but headphones reduce distractions during focused sessions
- Microphone needed only if you plan to ask questions during live Q&A periods
- Webcam optional—most students keep video off during regular lessons
- Screen sharing capability helpful for getting feedback on your chart analysis
